The Government Inspector

Nikolai Gogol’s world is amusingly bizarre, resonating with our own political absurdities.  His satire is aimed at any society, then or now, which sacrifices true values for self advancement.  The dignitaries of a small Tsarist town panic as they mistake a well dressed stranger for the dreaded inspector – a situation which will lead to hilarious farce.

The adaptation of The Government Inspector is by the humorist and satirist Alistair Beaton.  It has a lightness of touch and much physical humour, making it suitable for all ages.
