Storytelling - The Last Droll Teller

The old droll tellers travelled from village to village across Cornwall telling traditional tales and passing on gossip and news from Inn to farmhouse. Gradually this way of life died away and the old stories were left to drift on the breeze.

Until Now!

John Brolly is The Last Droll Teller bringing to life the tale of the hapless Tom Trevorrow and his attempts to outwit the magical creatures of Cornwall. You will never look at a pasty the same way again after hearing this story!

A tale of mystery, excitement and fun for both children and adults.

The Storm Officer – Oct 14
Oct 14 @ 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
  • by Matt Black

This performance will be free to visitors to Minack on the day, but our standard entry prices will apply to access the site.

So when sun shines, we watch the planes
And finest grapes hang off the vine,
So let’s drink on, and when it rains
We’ll measure rain as pints of wine…

Wild storms, hurricanes and extreme flooding, The Storm Officer tells the tale of one town’s struggle when faced with the realities of extreme weather and the impact of climate change. Inspired by real-life stories of Storm Desmond (2015), and tales of extreme, bizarre and dramatic weather events from the last thousand years, The Storm Officer invites you on a journey of discovery. Exploring what it means to still call somewhere home in the face of adversity.

Funny, touching and bold, The Storm Officer features individual and community stories of courage and bravery, woven with original live music and song.

Directed by Martin Berry with music by Julian Butt.

Presented in association with Lakeside Arts, the University of Liverpool and Aberystwyth University. Supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council and Arts Council England.
